Trekking in Ootacamund
No one would need any introduction to Ootacamund otherwise commonly called Ooty, a place that was once the summer capital of the British in India. Ootacamund is located 80 km north of Coimbatore and is a popular hill station. Trekking has gained appreciation with the tourists in the recent years. Ooty forms the perfect base for a number of exciting treks, some long and some short, into the adjoining hills. The winter season is the best time to explore the natural glory of Ooty through trekking. There are several treks which differ in distance, heights and landscape. Also, a base camp is built at Parsons Valley, which aids as an initial point for the trekkers.
The picturesque view of Mudumalai Sanctuary is certainly spectacular for adventure tourists. Ooty also offers short one day treks to the tourists. One of them is through the forested area of Glenmorgan. Located at a distance of 17 km from Ooty, it is rich in eucalyptus, wattle and rhododendron trees. One can also trek to Dodabetta, the second highest peak in the Western Ghats. The peak lies about 10 km from Ooty. The climb to the top isn’t much of a challenge; however, from here one can have a splendid view of the surroundings.
Trekking in Ooty, certainly adds to the joy and excitement of the tourists who love to enjoy nature in a completely unique and innovative way. If you have not visited Ooty then I would recommend you to visit the place and have the taste and joy of a memorable trek experience.
